Check the circuit breaker or fuse box for a tripped breaker or blown fuse. Resetting the garbage disposal may be necessary. Press the reset button located at the button of the disposal unit. Keep in mind not all Garbage disposal models are equipped with a reset button.

Humming Garbage Disposals:

For garbage disposal that are humming but not working, you must turn off the power and immediately unplug the unit to avoid injury. Manually rotate the blades using a hex key or wrench in the bottom of the disposal, this will manually turn the blades and dislodge any obstructions. Remove any visible blockages inside the disposal.
